for E use your pointer, middle, and ring finger. The middle finger can bend enough to play B on the A-string with enough practice, making almost like a pencil grip. I used to try to play the E on the C-string with my pinky for extra reach but the pencil grip allows me to change to other chords quicker. Just takes some practice back and forth for sure!
BTW I think an F for the first "in other words" transitions the Am and G a bit better for this song. Bm sounds off. Try Dm for instead, and E7 instead of E. E sounds too out of key.
