About this song: I Will Follow You Into The Dark
"I Will Follow You Into the Dark" is the third single from Death Cab for Cutie's album Plans. It's an acoustic ballad performed solo, by frontman Ben Gibbard. It was recorded with a single microphone, and there is no overdubbing in the song. It was released as a single in the UK as a two-part 7" single (one on green vinyl, the other on "mustard" colored vinyl) and as a CD single. The I Follow You Into The Dark Songfacts states that Gibbard told VH1's Storytellers that Gibbard penned the song in a burst of creativity in 15 miniutes at a Seattle studio, which he kept solely for songwriting.
