About this song: Ever Fallen In Love (with Someone You Shouldn't've)?
According to the Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)? Songfacts, Buzzcocks' songwriter Pete Shelley was inspired by some dialogue ("Have you ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn't have") in the musical film Guys & Dolls. He was watching it in an Edinburgh guest house TV lounge and the line leapt out. He wrote the lyrics, the next day.
