About this song: Superstar
The track was originally released as a b-side to the Delaney & Bonnie single "Comin' Home" in December 1969, as "Groupie (Superstar)". It was covered by many artists, including Luther Vandross and Bette Midler, but most notably The Carpenters in 1971. The Sonic Youth version (recorded in 1994 for the If I Were a Carpenter tribute album) is haunting and sad, carrying a completely different feel to the original.
