The Bird and the Worm - Owl City
Note: These chords are designed for a soprano ukulele.
F* indicates a modified F chord, which looks like this:
A -3-
E -1-
C -0-
G -2-
The strumming pattern that I use for this song is as follows:
D(palm mute) DUD(palm mute)
Chords shown at the beginning of a line may need to be played
just before the lyric, to preserve syncopation.
VERSE ONE:
C G
If You're The Bird,
Am F
Whenever we pre-tend it's summer,
C G
Then I'm the worm,
Am F
I know the part, it's such a bummer,
C G
But fair is fair,
Am F
If my segments get separated,
C G
I'll scream
F
& you'll be there.
C G
Close your eyes (Close my eyes),
Am F
Slide the cotton off of your shoulder,
C G
And feel the shine (feel the shine),
Am F
I'm hooked so toss me over,
C G
And cast a line (oh I'll try),
Am F C G
Oh throw a party and greet my undersea friends (it depends),
F
As they ar-rive (if they arrive),
CHORUS:
C G F
You and I left our troubles far behind (troubles far behind),
C G F
But I still have just one more question on my mind,
C G F F*
For all my pals who live in all the oceans and the seas,
C G F
With friends like these well, who needs enemies?

If I'm your boy,
Am F
Let's take a shortcut we remember,
C G
And we'll en-joy,
Am F
Pickin' apples in late September
C G
Like we've done for years,
Am F
Then we'll take a long walk through the corn field,
C G F
And I'll kiss you, between the ears,
C G
If you're my girl,
Am F
Swirl me around your room with feeling,
C G
And as we twirl,
Am F
the glow-in-the-dark stars on your ceiling,
C G
Will shine for us,
Am F
As love sweeps over the room,
C G F
Cause we tend to make each other blush (you make me blush)
CHORUS:
C G Am F
You and I left our troubles far be-hind (troubles far behind),
C G Am F
But I still have just one more question on my mind,

With fronds like these well, who needs anenomes?

Play the G's as Em's and the final chord for each verse is not F, but G7.
That should work out. and still play it with mutes

I suppose that it must be! I'm not sure what the rules are for giving people chords in the least confusing way. Thanks!

Ooh good catch. the G string should be played on the 2nd fret for the chord I've been playing.
