[Verse 1]

There once was a bittersweet man and they called him, "Lemon Boy"
A# Gm C
He was growing in my garden and I pulled him out by his hair like a weed

So, I figured this time I might as well let him be
[Chorus]
A# F A7 Dm
Lemon Boy and me started to get along together

I'd help him plant his seeds and we mowed the lawn in bad weather
A# F A7 Dm A#
It's actually pretty easy being nice to a bitter boy like him

So, I got myself a citrus friend
[Verse 2]
F A7
But soon his bittersweet started to rub off on me
A# Gm C
You'd think smelling like lemon zest would be pretty neat
F A7
I found out that my friends are more of the savoury type
A# Gm C
And they weren't too keen on compromising with a nice lemon pie
[Chorus]

What if Lemon Boy won't grow no longer
A7 A#
What if the beaches dry of sugarcane
Oh well

The whales start to beach themselves

The tortoise shells tear away from their spines
Gm C F
It happens all the time, it happens all the time
[Pre-Chorus]
A# F A7 Dm
Lemon Boy and I, we're gonna live forever

Like Snufkin and Little My, we'll get around wherever

in the part "what if beaches dry of sugar cane, oo-oooh well" i like to play a cm chord on the "oh well" part!

I've been playing this song a lot, using this *AMAZING* tab to learn how to play it, and it's been very useful. I found that the hardest part of learning this song is the strumming pattern. After throwing myself at that problem a billion times practically, I believe I've figured it out. The reason it has probably been so hard to figure out is that the strumming pattern changes multiple times while you're playing! The first strumming pattern you'll use is D-D-U D U D U D (the dash means they're played in quick succession) You'll use this pattern when playing verses 1, 2, and the bridge. The next pattern is D-D-U D which is used for playing Gm and C in verses 1, 2, and the bridge; Meanwhile, it's also used for all notes, except Dm and C, in Chorus and Pre-Chorus. Finally, the last pattern you'll need is for Dm and C in Chorus and Pre-Chorus; the pattern is just a simple D-D. I know the tab doesn't include a C cord after the Dm chord, but if you include it when you're playing, I promise you it'll sound much better if you do. If you're having trouble getting the patterns down I recommend listening to the song while thinking of the pattern. Another possibility could be that I just suck at explaining this. Good luck, and I hope this helps someone.

If you like beginner chords and the song is too high or low, I transposed 5 half steps down.

Love it! However, I do add an A after the Dm in the choruses, it makes it sound more like the song. Great job with the tab!
